Gold Sponsors & guest speaker

Proud to be sponsoring the 6th Digital Pathology & AI congress

FFEI will be presenting their Sierra Colour Calibration technology at this year’s event. Sierra seeks to ensure colour fidelity throughout the imaging process. The goal of this is to provide confidence that the colour is representative of the ‘true colour’ of the tissue sample and not digitally altered by the scanning process. This provides a guarantee that either a pathologist of AI software is working from ground-truth data.

Whilst this means that all WSI scanner colour outputs can be uniformly generated for universally matched colour data, it also means that human or AI decisions are based upon real colour data, no longer compromised by digitisation.

AI Grounded in Reality – The Importance of Ground-Truth Colour Standardisation for Pathology AI

Day 2, track 1, 14:25 to 14:55

The importance of colour management as a fine-edge tool that makes WSI devices and AI both commercially competitive and next-level reliable is emerging at rate. However, artificial intelligence is only capable of just that – intelligent methodologies that whilst effective are artificial, and any colour-handling results in data-manipulation at best. The ground-truth colours in pathology are real data, from real patients that require diagnostics based upon reality for accurate and reliable healthcare. Only by utilising colour management techniques that have the ability to create standardised and ground-truth coloured images irrespective of WSI scanner source will AI truly be able to universally make these life-changing decisions with complete colour certainty.
